I put this page in the site to pay homage to my dear friend of 27 years.
I'll never forget the night I met Marchel. I was playing with the best jazz trio in Dallas, Robert Sanders on piano, Chris Clark on acoustic bass, and Jimmy Zintano "J.Z." on drums and me on trombone. We opened the show for Tim Ballard. Late that night Marchel came in, so laid back and unassuming. I had no idea who Robert was introducing me to, but when Marchel started playing that tenor, I was completely blown away. From that day on I would find myself daydreaming about recording my songs with Marchel on the Tenor. Throughout the years Marchel has invited me to submit some of my music for consideration for his next album.
I finally realized one of my dreams. I found myself in the studio recording with the people I admire the most, and the icing on the cake was having Robert Sanders and Marchel Ivery in the studio with me. Being the pro's that they are, they gave me what I asked for and more. The last time I saw Marchel was when we recorded "Thinking About You", 10 days before his passing. The work that he did that day was amazing as you can hear. We are all richer for having this great man, great artist , and great friend in our lives and in our ears for all these years. I thank God for allowing us to record history with this incredible artist.
